I understand the title of this post is a bit misleading. Technically, our house is not three years old. It was built in the 1950s, has had at least five previous owners before us and, y'know, just isn't new construction in any shape or form. However, we officially closed on our house on May 12th, 2011, so our house is three years old, to us.

They grow up so fast.

We've come a long way from the house we didn't even want to tour because of the bad curb appeal, cramped quarters and questionable paint choices. But we knew the house had potential (not to mention a killer backyard in a neighborhood that doesn't have many like ours) and it's in the exact perfect location in our favorite 'hood in the city (we're totally paying for location). It's been a pretty fabulous three years, with only better things to come.

So now, because it is much, much overdue for a blog that focuses on home design, I'm happy to share that I've finally gotten around to creating a Home Tour page on this here blog (check out the tab under the header). I've gathered pictures from each room of our house (hold tight on the master bedroom photos, and the basement, too) and have my favorites living on that page. So, take a virtual step inside and check out our digs, if you'd like.

Also today, in honor of our home ownership birthday, I thought I'd share some of my favorite projects of the last three years...from the recent (helloooo, "new" bathroom), so the embarrassingly old (painted cabinets...oh, to be young again). Let's revisit:

It was fun going back down memory lane with these projects (we painted those kitchen cabinets just a month after we moved in!), but as any homeowner knows, the projects never stop. I'm looking forward to getting creative and tackling more projects than ever this summer, and em excited to finally let you in on our biggest project of all (check back later this week!). Until then, I think our house's birthday is reason enough to pull up some of that rhubarb that's been coming up so nicely in the backyard and make a pie...or ice cream...or bars....

Anyway, happy birthday, house! It's been three years of fun.
